Judge Olena Tanasevych is the first President of the High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) in Ukraine which was established in 2019. She took office on the 7th of May, 2019. As the President she with the team of like-minded colleagues managed to organize everything for administration of justice just during less than four months (conducted competitions and formed the court staff, organized trainings of the staff, obtained and arranged three buildings for needs of justice, purchased equipment, developed and implemented internal regulations and rules, etc.).
She holds a law degree from H.S. Skovoroda Kharkiv National Pedagogical University (Ukraine), an LL.M. degree from Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University (Ukraine), and a doctoral degree (PhD in Law) from Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs (Ukraine).
As the President of the HACC, Olena Tanasevych was responsible for the general administration of the HACC, public relations, communication, coverage of the court’s activity and the operation of the court staff. Besides, she is an external stakeholder of educational programs of her alma mater - H.S. Skovoroda Kharkiv National Pedagogical University. Periodically, she also gives lectures for law students on criminal procedure in many Ukrainian Universities and meets with schoolchildren for highlighting the role of courts in legal and social state.
Before joining the HACC, Olena Tanasevych administrated justice in a district court of Kharkiv region (2012-2019), worked as a judge’s assistant in the Court of Appeal in Kharkiv region (2010-2012), had private law practice (2003-2010).
She speaks excellent Ukrainian (mother tongue), English and Russian.
